Dorrington Park (The Enchanted Forest), Ashgrove

Dorrington Park (The Enchanted Forest), Frasers Rd, Ashgrove

Look for Cafe Baroque on the corner, the turning to the car park is just before it!

We thought this was going to be Woolcock Park after confusing reports of solar powered music things but it turned out that one of this parks main attractions is a toadstool fairy ring that tells you stories! Not bad?!

There's a multitude of things to play on, the climbing tree house is great as are the parade of shops, climbing mound with slides and rope bridge.

They've thrown pretty much everything at this park, it's well worth a trip.

Gilbert Park, Red Hill

Gilbert Park, Red Hill 4060
Access via Fulcher and Kenwyn Roads, adjoining Ithaca Creek

We found this one by accident while looking for the elusive Woolcock Park. As it's a very short walk between the two parks, it's well worth going to both as Gilbert has the edge in terms of climbing frames and swings (Woolcock Park is more about running around we reckon).

The playground has a brilliant wooden climbing frame with a bridge and slide, a merry-go-round, a 2nd smaller climbing frame, a couple of bouncers and a couple of sets of swings.

We were there during the school holidays and there were loads of local kids running around. It had a very friendly atmosphere ;)

Woolcock Park, Red Hill

Woolcock Park, Red Hill QLD 4060
Access from Hawthorn Terrace, Mossvale Street and Waterworks Road

It took us a long while to find this one... We'd heard of this park that had 'solar powered music things' in it from loads of people we'd met in other play parks around Brisbane but it's location was hazy.

But we tracked it down and found the excellent Gilbert Park in the process. Unfortunately, the solar powered music things appear to be out of order... this may have something to do with the recent floods as the park itself it right next to a creek?

It's a lovely location, very open and bright with BBQ's and beautiful 'leaf' benches. If definitely aimed at 5+ I'd say as there are swings and slides but the other activities are a bit more running around and riding your bike!

Essex Road, Indooroopilly

Essex Road, Indooroopilly QLD 4068

This was a bit of a random find following a wrong turn on the way home from Indrooroopilly shopping centre.

It's a great park, looks like it's been added and added too over the years. The climbing frame in the middle is brilliant.

Anzac Park, Toowong

Dean Street Toowong QLD 4066
Probhably our favourite park right now: based on an Australian Homestead, complete with grain cylos and a ute.

Oh, and there's a zip wire (which apparently is a 'Flying Fox' in Australia?!) which is loadsa fun.
